The Morning Sun ARCADIA — Annabelle L. Prettyman, 89, of rural Arcadia, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2007 at Mercy Health Systems in Fort Scott, Kansas. Annabelle L. Prettyman
Mrs. Prettyman was born March 6, 1918 at Mulberry the daughter of Woodson and Eliza Endicott Portwood. Annabelle was a homemaker who lived in the Arcadia and Mulberry area most of her life. She was raised in Mulberry and attended Mulberry schools. She married Fred W. Prettyman on March 7, 1937 at Lamar, Missouri. Mr. Prettyman preceded her in death June 15, 1990. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Garland and the Eastern Star Topaz Lodge No. 325 at Garland. Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Schulze and her husband, Dave of Nevada, Missouri, two sons, Fred A. Prettyman and his wife, Connie of Nevada, Missouri, and Bob Prettyman of Arcadia, caregivers, Carolyn Clinesmith of Lawson, Missouri, and Beth Portwood of Garland, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Annabelle was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Cannon, a great-granddaughter, Bayley Spillman, four sisters, Elizabeth Portwood, Alta Jackson, Margaret Burke and Frances Gazaway, and four brothers, George, Herb, Maynard and Frank Portwood.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery at Mulberry. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Bedene Chapel in Arma. The family suggests memorials to the Mirza Shrine Transportation Fund.
